Hot Wire Ignition test is a type of resistance test to fire for plastic
materials. Heating wire is winded around the test sample and the wire
is heated up with a DC-current until it glows to see if the test sample
ignites. Please note that most new standards require the use of AC
current. (See Hot Wire Ignition Tester Model 4670 and 4680 for ACcurrent)
The Hot Wire Ignition Tester Model 4610 is a manual version. It
contains a DC-source, and observations, timing and calculations are
done manually.
