這種浮筒式的液位開關不是浮子浮在液位表面，而是浮筒被懸掛在彈簧上，當液位上升時，浮力導致浮筒的重量減少，也減少了懸掛的彈簧的張力，使得開關動作。由于采用不同的原理，這個液位開關比浮子式液位開關更能承受干擾或壓力的變化，特別適用于粘度大的液體或臟污的液體。
