Collimated Beam Input Depending on the beam divergence characteristics of the light source, Newport offers two different types of integrating sphere detectors – Divergent or Collimating. The 819C series are used for a collimated input beam, such as a laser beam. When the collimated beam is measured, the baffle needs to be placed between the first reflection off of the internal wall of the sphere and the detector. The baffle prevents direct radiation from the hot spot from hitting the detector, which allows the spatially integrated beam power measurement. | |

Factors that Affect Maximum Measurable Power |
The maximum measurable power of photodiode sensors is dependent on several factors such as the wavelength of incoming light, photodiode current output saturation, temperature, use of an attenuator and a power meter's maximum current input value.
